HIggins Scores One Of Many On The PP

Higgins scores a great PP goal on May 18th

Here is the breakdown

A. Movement- The Canucks PP was something special last night creating movement both with width and with depth going low and high. Players were allowing the puck to move quickly to open passing lanes.

B. High to Low and Low to High- The Canucks had a great mix of players moving the puck from the goal line to the point and also from the point to the half wall.  This goal is a great example of players moving the puck and then attacking the net.  As the puck moves around they realize they have some space and take what San Jose gives them.

C. Pop Out- This motion by Higgins is something that many young players don't do.  Lots of players stand in front and don't ever become a passing option or a threat to score.  Watch Higgins as he moves off the goalie into a little soft spot basically in between all 4 Penalty Killers and quickly fires the puck.  This is a timing play as he has to move out and the pass be delivered all at the same moment so that it is a bang-bang play.  If he is there too early someone will cover him.  A well executed play for a big goal.
