Kovalchuk scores a goal on the 5 on 3 with a great adjustment on his one-timer here is the breakdown:
A. The Set-Up- Watch as the puck moves around and as it comes back to the opposite point man and he knows the puck is coming to him, he turns and sets his feet to allow him to be ready to get the best contact with the puck.
B. The Wind-Up- The wind up is not a huge wind-up but it allows him to adjust if needed to a pass that is not perfect. The higher the wind-up the harder the timing for passes that are not perfect.
C. The Adjustment- The pass is closer to his front foot so he must adjust. He slides forward a little and adjusts the stick motion to make sure that he still gets good contact on the puck. The puck is not a perfect shot, but because there is such a fast release and it has so much on it, this is a very difficult save for the goalie.
