Hecht uses Forehand Fake in Shoot-Out

Check out the highlight of a shoot-out goal by Hecht from the Buffalo/Montreal Game Feb 15th.

Using a Forehand Fake in a breakaway setting
Here is the breakdown:

A.  Create Lateral Movement With The Body - Hecht does a great job of coming down off the post to create a angle where the goalie has to change his angle.  He starts the puck on the forehand side where the goalie has to respect that he can shoot the puck or deke.

B.  Movement of the Puck Laterally - The puck travels in 2 straight lines.  It starts on the forehand and finishes on the forehand in a shooting position.

 C. Speed - The skating speed creates a great opportunity to beat a goalie to openings in the net.  The puck moves quickly from side to side and back into a spot where he can shoot the puck to score a goal. Skating speed is important and also how quickly the puck moves will create scoring chances.
