Drive Wide and Pull Puck Across Net
Here is the Breakdown
A. Speed Wide- Marchand keeps moving his feet to create speed in Neutral Zone.
B. Shoulder Position- As soon as he gets shoulder position (offensive shoulder gets past the shoulder of the defensemen) he starts to cut to the net. The puck is protected and not stick handled as he is cutting to the net. He keeps his body between the defender and the puck and cuts hard to the net.
C. Pull Across Net- As he gets close to the goalie he keeps the puck on the forehand side, now when he feels that the defensemen can't get to the puck, he pulls the puck to his backhand making the goalie move across the net. This motion is very hard to defend. To finish the play off, he elevates the puck as goalies are taught to take away the bottom of the net.
