Todd Marchant finds ice in a game vs Detroit March 2nd
Here is the breakdown
A. Turnover In Defensive Zone- The Ducks do a great job to turn the puck over and take off up the ice. This quick transition leads to a great scoring chance
B. Moves Puck and Keeps Skating- Many players make the mistake of after they pass the puck their job is done. You can see Marchant move the puck while skating and then keeps skating to get the puck back.
C. Finds Ice Behind Defenseman- In the 2 vs 1 scenario the open ice is either past the D-Man or above the D-Man. In this case Marchant recognizes the space is behind the Detroit player and drives to get there. He is on his forehand and as he gets close to the goalie he tries to redirect the puck. This is a great chance to the net. The direct pressure doesn't allow a backchecker to get close to him as he gets this scoring chance.
